Digital Disruptions in Marketing
To keep our alumni updated with the tsunami of changes in businesses the MIM Program has invited one of the world's IT gurus: Professor Dr. Anitesh Barua to give an exclusive talk for them on the topic "Digital Disruptions in Marketing".
Powered by technological innovations -- big data, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, blockchain et al. -- digital disruptions are causing a tsunami of changes in business models, processes and functions.   Linear business models, which dominated the world for over a hundred years by taking advantage of economies of scale on the supply side, are being dwarfed by network and platform models that took just a few years to grow to astonishing levels by leveraging economies of scale on the demand side.
This exclusive talk, by Prof.  Dr.  Anitesh Barua will demonstrate how emerging technologies enable completely new marketing strategies and methods to improve business outcomes.  Regardless of the channel or touchpoint, data and information exchange between a brand and its customers is key to this new approach, where an important goal is to better understand and radically improve the customer journey.
Prof.  Dr.  Anitesh Barua is the David Bruton Jr. Centennial Chair Professor of Business, Distinguished Fellow of the INFORMS Information Systems Society, Stevens Piper Foundation Professor, University of Texas Distinguished Teaching Professor, and Associate Director of the Center for Research in Electronic Commerce at the McCombs School of Business, the University of Texas at Austin.  He received his Ph.D from Carnegie Mellon University.
His research on electronic commerce (sponsored by Cisco Systems), e-business value assessment (sponsored by Dell Inc.), and the value of big data (sponsored by Sybase) have been featured in every significant media outlet around the world.  He has appeared on many occasions as an electronic commerce expert on major television and radio programs in the U.S. and abroad including CNN, CNBC, Jim Lehrer News Hour (PBS), Associated Press Radio, CBS Radio, Voice of America and NDTV (India).
This session will be held specifically for MIM alumni on Friday, 15 December 2017 during 18:30-21:00 hrs at Astor II&III, 14th Floor, The St. Regis Bangkok Hotel on Rajadamri Road.  Any MIM alumni who wish to join the session please confirm your reservation with Khun Piyapa Nararak (Ging) at tel: 02-222-1331, 086-315-4353 or E-mail piyapa.nararak@gmail.com  Seats will be available on the first-come-first-serve basis.
